FAQ

Why do the sizes of your door plates differ from their size on my screen?
The presentation size of the door plate on your screen is determined by the screen resolution of your computer. Our door plates are always shown according to scale in relation to the text and will always be exactly the way you designed them and with the exact measurements specified in your order.

How do I order from thedoorplate.co.uk?
There are two ordering options. You can either design a door plate from scratch or you can choose a template (if your landlord/tenant-owner association has already created a template for your residence).

To order a door plate designed by you from scratch: go to ‘Design your own door plate’, choose type of plate, font, font size, any solid colours and your text.

To check whether your tenant-owner association/landlord has already uploaded a template, go to ‘Order a door plate from a template’ and search either by the org. reg. no. of your tenant-owner association or the association’s name or property address. The matches (templates) that come up depend on the search parameters you have entered. Check that the details in the template you have chosen are the correct ones for your association. If no template has been uploaded, a message will come up. You should then check the spelling, for example.

Are screws included?
Yes. All door plates come with matching screws for mounting on wood surfaces. If the door plate is to be mounted on another material, i.e. brick or concrete, we recommend you buy screws specially designed for the purpose at your local hardware store. thedoorplate.co.uk is unable to provide special screws as there are simply far too many different types for us to keep in stock.

Door plates without screw holes come with double-sided adhesive tape.

How do I know if my order has gone through successfully?

If you do not receive an order confirmation within a couple of hours, please contact us by e-mail at info@thedoorplate.co.uk.

What is the freight cost?

No. There is no right of cancellation for products made to order according to the Swedish Distance and Doorstep Sales Act (2005:59), Section 2, §5. This is because for distance agreements, products that are made to order or significantly altered in accordance with the customer’s specific instructions are given clearly personalised appearance.

Where do I create a template on behalf of my tenant-owner association or housing company?
To upload or change a template for a property, you need a user ID and password. If you have not already received one from us you should contact us by e-mail at info@thedoorplate.co.uk. State your association’s name, org. reg. no. and address in the e-mail. When you have received your user ID and password, simply log in via ‘Create and save template’ and enter the plate model, font, font size, whether lower/higher case or CAPITALS and if solid colour (if applicable). Please remember to avoid using excessively large font sizes as it can cause problems for members with long names. thedoorplate.co.uk recommends a maximum font size of 14 mm. To finish, save the template.

Once I have saved a template for my association, can I alter it later?
Yes. You can alter a template if you have a user name and password.

Can my association buy new door plates for all its members at the same time? Do we get a volume discount?
Yes. It is possible to order several door plates at the same time. The simplest way is for your association to create and save a template under Create and save template. If you haven't received a user ID and password, please contact us at info@thedoorplate.co.uk. You can then order via order a door plate from a template. When you have chosen all the door plates in your shopping cart, choose your payment method and confirm the order. Volume discounts are automatically given for shopping carts containing more than 10 plates. It is 10% of the order value excluding invoice and freight charges (if applicable).
